How are you making these lists of contents appear next to each other? When looking into the source code, it seems you are using those wrap groups (), but are they available in vanilla Dokuwiki or do I need some plugin to also be able to have two tables next to each other?

Yeah, you need to install the 'wrap' plugin for that.
The 'group' class holds it together, while the 'half' (1/2) and 'quarter' (1/4) classes determine the column size. There's also the 'third' (1/3) and 'twothirds' (2/3) classes, but they never seem to work well.
