Would you eat lab-grown meat?
Probably if I knew more about it.

I wouldn't be an early adopter, but I'd probably try it if it became a thing.
To me, current fake meats aren't that bad. Very likely bad for you, but pretty tasty in the right contexts. If you go back to red meat after not having had it for a while you get a stomachache, it's not debilitating, but an annoyance. What I don't miss is the grease and texture. The fake stuff usually has too much 'give', but it's not so dense or leathery. The thought of animal grease is kinda disgusting to me.
There's probably some things that would be better for my health. Baked chicken. Fish is supposedly very good for you. I never liked fish.
Mostly I don't really miss it. It's been a really long time though.
Some people's reaction to veggie business is so paranoid.
"Fake Meat == PETA == force substitution. It's not like it's just another kind of food, it's surrendering to tyranny. Should you ever try it, you can never go back to the carnivorous person you were before. "
In instances where I'm 'outed', lots of people feel compelled to tell me of their great love of meat. "… uhmm … okay."
The lab thing would probably be a bit different. I think this is underway or about to be? ( youtu.be/QO9SS1NS6MM )
yup? I might pay a slight mark up for the sake of curiosity. Again either way, not an early adopter.
The video talks about an "uncanny valley" idea, i.e. "it better taste/feel 100% like meat." The current options do not. People's revolution is still amusing given the vast consumption of processed foods.
You know, a lot of people around here kill and then butcher their own deer. Then sometimes, they offer me some of their deer chili and I'm like, "no, uH, no thank you." And they're like, "look at this weirdo lib queer, won't even eat the deer I butchered in my yard!" but then they're always getting stomach-related illnesses, and they're like, "Man, I'm always sick this time of year that is coincidentally the time of year I am often butchering my own meat in my yard!" Guess what, Josh? I'm not sick. HMmMMmm.
My point is, I would eat lab-grown meat in the bat of an eye, especially it means someone didn't butcher it in his yard.
Not without long term peer reviewed studies.
Yeah, I would give it a try. For me it is more about ethics than health.
