How'd you get into drawing animal people? Also, what are your preferences/canons for them on the "behaves like the animal" to "is just a person who happens to look like an animal" spectrum?

it mostly comes down to having grown up with a lot of anthro characters in media. i remember when i was a kid, i taught myself how to use the vhs player so i could watch the lion king on repeat. i got specifically into drawing furry stuff thanks to deviantart, and later tumblr.

i think within my own art, i tend to lean more into "person who happens to look like an animal", but i don't have too much preference with it. i love seeing how different artists explore different ways of anthropomorphizing characters, and what it can add to their work.
