I don’t even ship jaymel because I want Mel dammit, but the way jayvik stans talk about her and the way they treat her makes me one of meljay’s strongest soldiers. Just throwing the word homophobia around when there’s a bunch of canon queer couples and characters in the universe. Like hell am I ever going to side with a fandom that makes Mel have a cuck fetish and spread so much misinfo. “Her magic repels Vik because she hates him!” “She looks down on him” fuuuuuckkk off.

see i came out of s2 initially a fan of jyvk but literally within a week or so of being in the fandom the ship left a bad taste in my mouth because to me mel > anyone else in the cast. the way these people talk about mel is so awful, they pretend to love mel whenever it's convenient for them but really only ever villainize her while infantilizing their men. the more i see them the more do my feelings for the ship sour, unless it's already established oomfs i dont think i actually want to interact with jyvk fans atp. all they do is use misogynistic & racist tropes, villainize her and then pretend to love her. it's so performative.
a lot of the talking points actually also remind me of another character's haters icl except those people at least don't pretend to love that character.
ive seen some of the most insane takes in order to “prove” that people who don't see jyvk as romantic are homophobic lol this fandom is fucking insane which is why the only people i trust are usually on meltwt/meljaytwt or particular close oomfs of mine (such as vi, with whom i have discussed arcane at length and we tend to agree on most things).
the mischaracterization these characters suffer from is actually insane and reminds me of our all time favorite subtwt...
