hey, i am not a native english speaker and was trying to look up white elephant and was wondering if you would be able to explain it a little? it seems a couple different meanings so i just wanted to get it right~
Yeah! White elephant is a gift exchange where everyone involved brings a gift (often gag/silly gifts or booze) to be opened. Then everyone picks a number, and that is the order that you get to open the presents. You can pick any of the still wrapped presents.
The fun is that once you’ve opened your present, if you want something else that has already been opened, you can trade. No one is allowed to refuse the trade.
Whoever picked 1 is in the best position because once every present is open, they get final pick of which present they want (since they have no one to trade with when they open the first present)
