The Babadook made me need reassurance that I wasn't going to lose touch with reality at some random point in my adulthood. still not sure.

I haven't watched any movies recently but some TV series made me really think. "Dark" and "Westwotld" are among the most thought-provking moving pictures that I've seen recently.

I haven't watched any movies like that recently, but I just re-watched seasons 1-4 of Dexter and I'm so angery at Dexter. He's so selfish and egotistic, smh. I remember sympathizing with him more the first time I watched it but now I'm just pissed

Anything with a ton of violence in it— prison or gang movies. Oh yeah... and Deliverance scarred me, too.

Weirdly its the newest 'A star is born'... just the idea of falling for someone you know has a problem and not being able to help someone work through their problems. Love doesn't solve all.

Requiem For A Dream

I find that foreign films (and not necessarily the really popular ones) generally stick with me a lot more than any American film, like they leave marks on my soul. Something about the content is just deeper and more profound, but not necessarily in an obvious/outstanding way.. it could be thought of as even arbitrary or random. I don't remember any names, but it's just about all the little-known foreign films I've seen. Indie films might be somewhat similar.

Let us say "21 Grams".

That must be King Hu's movie 'A Touch of Zen'. It is partially a classical "Eastern" martial arts movie with glorious scenes, but also a poetic movie that has a grand design and architecture. And even the laid back movie consumer might be touched by the Zen in it. From me it is a yes-yes-yes movie highly recommended and a masterpiece of its form and genre.
