Why are people so offended by people who celebrate valentines day?

I think a lot of people bring their own emotional baggage into their assessment of valentines day and those who celebrate it, for better or for worse.

I suppose everybody has their reasons, maybe some are bitter about their lacking relationships? Depending on who you ask, there's also an underlying crass commercialism that undermines the supposedly romantic roots of the occasion...it's fine either way though, people can have Romance Day and everybody mad about it can sit there and cope

Likely it is not a usual celebration day coming by tradition but a commercially invented celebration by the flower industry?

I didn't know they were, but I know that a lot of people dislike Valentine's day because it reminds them that they're single. And some people think Valentine's day is gimmicky, like why make a holiday invented by a corporation to make money the pinnacle of your relationship...
