I look forward to seeing you there :) Thank you so much to the admins for managing Retrospring all of this time, I appreciate its probably not been easy but I wish you all of the best with your future ambitions!

I wish we could do a fun shutdown "like in the old days", but with almost 200k users, there'd be too many that don't get the jokes and leaving people scared/offended is probably not the wisest.

(those have been really fun though, I still look at old recordings sometimes)

Imagine it more like being frozen in time, with the open to incinerate yourself.

(We're going read-only and you can still delete your account/etc.)

Perishing comes on 1st September, when the site shuts down fully!

When I sift through social media with questions the two most given answers are. IDK and IDC. Conclusion: people are careless and dumb. Hence there is the sort of society we got. Am I right?

Depending on if they are specifically asked, if they only have to say idk and idc, they probably just shouldn't reply. You don't have to say something to everything thrown your way. If I don't have an answer to something coming into my inbox, I don't answer it.

On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being extremely important, 1 being it means nothing to me) how important is Christmas Day to you?

I'd go with a 5 because it's not necessarily about Christmas in itself, but more of a set date for a family get-together with a nice dinner.

Hello! What kind of resources would be needed to run a small retrospring instance? (about a dozen users)

Not too much, up until 40k users we were running Retrospring on a 4GB AWS Lightsail VPS. And that wasn't just the Rails app, but the database and Redis all on the same host too.

So it doesn't need too many resources.

Are there plans to properly document the retrospring code? I tried setting up an instance, but there was a lot of troubleshooting needed, and ultimately I couldn't get it to work.

Hmm, that now depends if you tried the old docs that are referenced in the project readme, or the newer ones that I wrote up after the shutdown announcement

How far (in terms of time) are you willing to commute for in order to have well paid work?

An hour, or one and a half at most? Considering I'd need to return home as well that needs to be doubled and losing 3 hours out of a day for commute would be a lot already.

If the job was that far away I'd of course prefer home office if available.

Yes. In general, even if it might be an uncomfortable topic, money talk/salaries should be discussed. Not to make someone else feel bad, but to show people that they potentially earn less than they deserve.
